capsulewardrobeToday, I’m thrilled to share my spring (and summer!) capsule wardrobe. If you haven’t read the previous two posts on capsule wardrobes, definitely check them out!   IMG_2411

First let me say, I thought of a million reasons NOT to share this. I am NOT a fashion blogger. My pictures are literally all from my iPhone and mostly pics I rushed to take during one of Vivi’s naps. My criteria for clothes is comfortable and makes me feel good. That doesn’t always translate to great photos. I am not a size 0, I’m short and I birthed a baby about 8 months ago and everything is still rearranged a bit! ; )

BUT, I’m sharing anyway because I’m perfectly ok with this post not being perfect and I think it will be helpful to see how this whole capsule wardrobe works in real life.

One thing I learned, don’t be afraid to take pictures of your outfits. I did it to share for this post, but it has been sooo helpful seeing things on. It also makes a very handy guide when you need to plan outfits for a trip or just everyday life.

photo 4-6 Below I have listed all the pieces in my capsule wardrobe. Looking back through the shopping sites so I could link to these pieces was so tempting. There are sooo many cute things out right now. BUT knowing I was DONE shopping for the season (or two) really helped me to not purchase anything.

ampersand B&W chamb2 chambray dressy gray skirts W&B A FEW NOTES ABOUT BRANDS:

LOFT – I got everything at 40% or more off because they are always having sales. If you love their stuff but don’t have a big budget, wait for a sale. They happen all the time!

GAP – Same about sales! It wouldn’t hurt to subscribe to their mailing listing for the month you are planning your wardrobe to get the deals IF you have the willpower to unsubscribe when your wardrobe is set!

SOLE SOCIETY – How am I just finding this site? I have been needing a new purse since mine was lost/stolen. I was going to treat myself to a fancy Coach bag when I hit 3,000 journal sales but I just didn’t find one I liked enough to spend the money on. I was able to get 2 crossbody bags and 2 pairs of shoes for the price of one small Coach bag (and I’m talking outlet). Click this link to get 20% off your first purchase! If you share Sole Society with friends and they make a purchase, you get a credit which is just perfect to save for your next wardrobe purchases!

ASOS – If you are pregnant, this place is where I got 90% of my maternity clothes. I didn’t buy a ton because I work from home and I was able to make yoga pants work for the whole time (I cut a split in the back for the last few months!) I have two maternity dresses that are actually in my capsule wardrobe so I’m loving being able to reuse. Their “skater” dresses worked really well on me and they have tons of styles.

American Eagle – I still love American Eagle for bottoms. Their shorts are much cheaper than J. Crew in similar styles. And their jeans fit me well too!

[…] through my closet – Check out Val’s posts HERE about her capsule wardrobe.  I don’t know if I’ll be going that far but I know that […]

I’m so glad I popped over to read this because I love your thoughts and style! I’ve been toying with this idea for a while but I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to pare it down very well! Maybe that’s a sign I NEED to do it! Printed the planner and will be thinking on it tonight! Thanks for sharing your fashion journey!

Thank you for sharing! I really enjoyed seeing all your outfits and I was impressed with how many different combinations you made without looking the same! I still don’t know if I could do a capsule wardrobe, but its becoming more and more appealing. Thanks again for sharing!

Love the pictures! Thanks so much for putting this all together. I have been looking at different blogs for a good post about the capsule wardrobe and this one is great! How long did it take you to put it together?

I LOVE your capsule wardrobe! You did a fantastic job. I can’t wait to start my capsule wardrobe after my wedding!:)

I love this! Thanks for the pics at the bottom too. It really shows how versatile the wardrobe can be and I even spotted a few more combinations you could’ve done! Excited to do mine once we get settled…xoxo.

I absolutely LOVE how you showed all of your outfit pairings! You have so many options with what seems like such a small wardrobe. I’m so excited to give this a try after we return from vacation. Our family is really working hard on simplifying life as much as possible. This capsule wardrobe will surely make choosing an outfit (and doing the laundry) so much easier! Thanks for inspiring! 🙂
