The Slow Stirring of Adoption

6.2.2015 • 4 Comments

1398713931918Adoption has never been something I’ve been particularly passionate about. There, I said it. I obviously wasn’t against it, but as I saw some friends super excited about it, it was definitely a contrast to my own indifference. It actually made me really excited for them because I knew God had put a passion in them for that!

I had a dream a few weeks ago that changed my thoughts a bit though. The crazy part is, I can’t even remember what the dream was, just that something in the dream made me realize how important adoption was. There is a statistic somewhere that says something to the affect that if every family adopted one child, there would be no more orphans. That’s staggering to me.

My heart has been stirring for a few months about adoption and one of the things that has played a part is The Archibald Project. I have no idea what God has planned for our family in the future, but one thing I do know is that I want to support adoption however I can so I’m thrilled to have The Archibald Project as our June recipient for the Boaz Fund.

The Archibald Project is an orphan care media organization. We tell stories. Our stories advocate for orphans, educate on orphan care, build community and inspire people into action. Our vision is to see the orphan crisis eliminated, and we believe that because we exist, fewer children will be called orphan. We believe this because we have seen it firsthand. Our media has encouraged people to adopt, foster, volunteer and serve the fatherless in various, creative ways!

I’m pretty much a puddle on the floor after having just looked at every adoption story on their website. I truly believe The Archibald Project is stirring hearts about adoption in a unique way, simply telling stories and sharing captivating photos. So much of what nonprofits hope to do is bring awareness to different global issues and because of The Archibald Project, I am aware and motivated about adoption!

The Archibald Project has hosted 25 artists on 4 Media Missions, which all took place in Uganda. They are taking their first Eastern European Media Mission to Romania in August and are excited about potential trips to other parts of the globe in 2016! I’d love to send lots of support their way before they head out on their trip! For every journal bought this month, $.50 will go to The Archibald Project!

Order journals this month here and support The Archibald Project!

I am not the type of person to leave comments or feedback at all. I don’t even read blogs and yet somehow I stumbled across your site. My name is Valmarie, I was on etsy shopping for journals and planners and I ended up here. Figuring this was more than coincidence, I thought I would leave you a note. I have three daughters, two of whom were adopted from China. My only advice is: Don’t think and don’t wait. You will wish you had started the process sooner. www.gwca.org This is the organization we used to bring home our daughters. Many Blessings To You. 😉

I am amazed by how many Val Marie’s I meet!! So nice to “meet” you too!! And thank you for sharing! I love how evident it is when God shifts our hearts to something we never even considered before.

I’d never heard of The Archibald Project prior to your post, but it definitely made the place in my heart for adoption so much bigger. One of my little cousins, whom I often call my “mini-me,” is adopted. Her arrival into our family was completely unexpected. Her parents had given up hope after several adoptions fell through. One day, though, they got a call from a hospital about a birth mother ready to sign over her rights and the rest is history. She came home with us just a few days old. I don’t know if my past medical history will bar me from adopting in the future, but I know it’s a cause I want to wholeheartedly support in any way possible. Thank you so much for supporting The Archibald Project!

The Archibald Project is changing hearts and lives. I was introduced to The Archibald Project a few months ago on a blog post from one of the artists that went on a mission trip. And let me tell you, it has changed me. I still don’t know what God’s plans are for my husband and I, but I do know that somehow adoption, fostering, or advocating and supporting the fatherless is going to be a part of it. I encourage everyone to read their blog, listen to the adoption stories they have recorded, and open your heart to their message. Thank you to The Archibald Project for changing me, and opening my eyes, and thank you Val Marie Paper for supporting them this month.

YAY! Thanks sooo much, Val!! So incredible to hear how God is stirring your heart and using different means to spark this fire! Ahhh I get chills! He is so good and patient with us. So grateful for you, your talents, your products and your generosity!
